Meet Daquan Summers: The man behind "The Bootstrap Effect"

Can you believe I got my first felony at age 12! As an adolescent their weren't many positive role models for me to look up to. The only role model who truly set the example was my mother. I understand that a woman can raise a man, but she cannot teach a man how to be a man because she's a woman. So as a young man who begins to look for leadership I started finding it in the wrong places. I was ten years old and the only influences there were came from the low-income housing area I lived in. I learned about the thug life and drug-game, very fast, at an early age. Did that define me ? Was I the final product of my environment? I believed not! I managed to never allow my subconscious become complacent with the environment I lived in.

Although my father was absent we still maintained a positive relationship throughout my teenage years. My goals were to someday improve myself to the point to where I could  possibly inspire him to stay out of the penitentiary and become a more civilized human being. My main focus were to excel in school and become an outstanding player on the basketball court. I remained dedicated throughout my career from Middle school through high school, steering far away from sex, drugs, gangs, and violence; and focused on church, education, and community service. I lived in based on income housing all my life and I managed to get acceptances to the top schools in the country like Morehouse College and Maryville college. I continued my journey and basketball career at Maryville college. I specifically majored in Sociology like Dr.MLK and I even won two conference championships while in college. Not only was I a college athlete but I dedicated a lot of my time to community service at the Martin Luther King Center.

The Bootstrap Effect is the result of the cause when you try to improve a situation despite the circumstances. The stereotyping and racial profiling in America is beyond toxic and I want to contribute to the perception change about low-income areas with skyrocketing crime rates.  These people who are being socially engineered on a daily basis are the ones we should strive to help and impact. The reason why is because many of us are a product of what happened when education influenced us and opened our minds to a new reality other than our conditions.

I started the Bootstrap Effect in high school and I really didn't have enough information or time to create a blueprint for the Bootstrap Effect. Now that I am out of college with a lot more understanding about sociology and economics I can officially facilitate professional events that can produce overnight results for the target audience we are after. My goal is to educate everyone about the knowledge of self, health, and wealth. We will compensate everyone who participates and donates to the Bootstrap Effect. We will implement programs in areas where no program has been before. We will have field trips installed in our plans for anyone who has never been to museums in Memphis, Alabama, Washington D.C . and Virginia. There will be free financial literacy events in place and money given away to people who are managing to overcome their conditions by educating themselves.  All of these incentives are to help easily accomplish what the Bootstrap Effect has put in place.

I am doing this because I have put myself in a great financial and professional position to do so. GOD, ALLAH, or YAWEH is who I serve and believe in. He is going the one I give all my glory and honor too. I promised to serve him according to his word and he has allowed me to see a vision much greater than an human being can imagine. If you want to uplift people out of poverty without draining your wallet then I ask you to support the Bootstrap Effect. If you want to see the youth violence dissipate then I ask you to support the Bootstrap Effect. If you want you kids to grow up in a country where civilized people outnumber uncivilized people then I ask you to support the Bootstrap Effect. If you want kids to someday become financially stable who come from poor backgrounds like me then I ask you to support the Bootstrap Effect. Do not support the Bootstrap Effect because it would make you look good but support it because of the reason WHY we do what we do.
